When it comes to the vast art that touches our lives, the visual has become a key component. We are all sponges when it comes to this. In The Soldati Reels, you will have a reading experience where theme and sensibility matter to us collectively on every page. Each edition reads like a great short story collection, where differing pieces contain a combined cinematic impression of what both known and up-and-coming writers share from their love for the visual in a variety of genres. Short scripts, fiction, nonfiction, film soundtracks commentary, author and industry-related interviews, imagery inspired by the visuals contributors admire.

Most cinematic-driven enjoyments we check out at the theater, on DVD, stream, and beyond, originally begin on the written page. We wish you happy reading for tight collections featuring wonderful wordsmiths that you can absorb in solace with each issue.

Reel 01 Issue 01: Coming March 2025

Reel 01 Issue 01 of The Soldati Reels will feature an exclusive interview with MEW/EMW Productions’ first author Yuliana Kim-Grant discussing her upcoming novel, The Tide Comes Around.

The journal will also feature a piece by award-winning writer, producer, and director Eric S. Vaughan on his recent documentary, I Have a Name, which has been screened at multiple film festivals as well as The Impact Lounge in January 2025.

What We Publish

The Soldati Reels champions writers who are passionate about the merging of the visual and printed mediums. Are you that writer? If so, we will be on your side and want you on our team.

  • We are looking for creative nonfiction that is both personal and universal in nature, while still adhering the cinematic effect of fiction.
